I wouldn’t call Socks picky. He adores walks, food, and playing (in that order). But, like all dog lovers, I always like hearing what other dogs enjoy, so here is a list of Socks’ favorite things.
When I adopted Socks, the organization I got him from was feeding him Natural Balance and instead of going through the tedious process of switching food on him, I stayed with the brand. Twice a day he gets a cup of Potato & Duck Dry Dog Formula mixed with a slice of Duck and Turkey Roll. He licks his bowl clean every time and the food keeps him healthy.
Every week I take Socks to Doggie Day Camp at my local PetSmart and when I pick him up, he’s always exhausted and happy. If your dog likes to socialize, he’ll love going to camp. It’s also nice for me to not have to worry about him being home alone. When he’s at camp, I know he’s in a safe environment.
The Missing Link Dog Food Supplement
Not long after bringing Socks home, I noticed he had dandruff. I asked the vet about it and she said the best way to stop the flakes was by adding a supplement to his food. Sure enough, within a few days of adding The Missing Link to his food, the flakes disappeared. Another bonus of the supplement is that it keeps his coat soft and shiny. If your dog has dandruff or coat issues, definitely try adding a supplement to his food.
This one’s more my favorite than Socks’, but as someone who turned green/eco-friendly a few years ago, I highly recommend these poop bags. They’re sturdy, made from recycled content, and, best of all, they’re unscented! But don’t worry, they also have scented for anyone who likes to mask the smell of their dog’s business.
Socks is always ready to play and he absolutely adores tug-of-war. Although he has a few ropes in his toy box, he usually goes for this one. The three knots help me and him keep a good grip on it and so far, it’s stayed intact. That’s pretty good considering he likes to try and tear it apart every change he gets.
Despite the fact that I brush Socks’ teeth every day, I know he’s still at risk for plenty of dental diseases, especially because I can’t exactly reach all the way back in his mouth to scrape all the plaque off. So I give him a Greenies a few times a week. He gets to enjoy an extra treat and I enjoy knowing his teeth are secretly being cleaned. Win-win!
Socks’ favorites change all the time, so I’m sure I’ll have another favorites list for him in a couple months. What are some of your dog’s favorite things?
